Youth Pregnancy Prevention Trainer

Tobacco Free Community Partnership Coordinator

This part time (20+ hours per week) position is working to support and promote the efforts of the DPH MTCP Tobacco Free Community Partnership program. The Coordinator will primarily oversee the Ex-Smokers Hall of Fame initiative, including recruitment, maintaining relationships and planning events. The Coordinator must create and maintain a strong presence in the community and be a resource to those interested in learning more about tobacco related issues in the area. The Coordinator will give presentations in the community on tobacco related topics as well as help recruit 84 Chapters. Stop Access Coalition Assistant

Gandara has an opening for 20+ hours per week for a Coalition Assistant to work in the field of youth substance use prevention. University Health Services (UHS) seeks a dynamic, creative, team-oriented professional for the position of Assistant Director of the Center for Health Promotion (CHP).

The CHP integrates health education, community outreach and marketing services and Center for Alcohol and other Drug Abuse Prevention into a premiere, comprehensive public health initiative promoting student health and wellness. Reporting to the Director of the CHP, the successful candidate will assist in needs prioritization, strategic planning, program design and evaluation, and development of a research agenda relevant to college health education. The Assistant Director will directly supervise health education and nutrition staff, prepare departmental reports and grant proposals, coordinate UHS quality improvement efforts and lead professional staff in delivering evidence-based, culturally relevant, innovative and sustainable programs and services.

Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Education, Behavioral Sciences or related field.  A minimum of three years of progressively responsible professional experience (post-Master’s) in a college health or substance abuse setting.  At least two years experience supervising professional health educators.  Experience in providing science based universal and selective prevention interventions and health promotion strategies regarding health topics pertinent to college students.  Administrative experience in supervising staff, managing budgets, grant writing skills and grant administration.  Demonstrated leadership skills that facilitate effective communication and interpersonal relationships with all constituents (students, faculty, administration, medical providers, and other members of the surrounding community).  Strong knowledge of health education theories and evidence-based practice as well as ability to translate and apply those theories to the development of a comprehensive package of health education services.  Strong background in research and prevention program evaluation.  Demonstrated proficiency in word processing, statistical analysis packages, report writing etc.  Ability to lift, transport materials and equipment (light/medium weight).  Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.  Preferred qualifications include CHES Credential.

Hiring Salary Range: $47,400-$60,000  Normal Starting Salary: $47,400-$53,700, plus generous benefit package.

Urban Farm Coordinator

New Lands Farm, a project of Lutheran Social Services (LSS), seeks an Urban Farm Coordinator to support an exciting new project that engages recently resettled refugees in growing food for their families and the community in Worcester, MA. LSS is a non-profit, refugee resettlement organization that provides refugees with the support and guidance needed to achieve economic self-sufficiency, community integration and a better future. 

About the position

The Urban Farm Coordinator will help manage our Educational Agriculture Training Center (EAT Center), which is a small urban incubator farm in the Main South area of Worcester, MA. The EAT Center is a partnership between LSS, Worcester Regional Environmental Council, Worcester Common Ground, and the Worcester Mayor’s Office. The project vision is to train urban, new American farmers how to grow and market organic produce cultivated on previously vacant lots throughout the city. We are operating one site so far, and look forward to developing a second soon. The position is 15 hours per week, $12.50 per hour, and runs for 25 weeks beginning in April.

Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation -- Research Associate II

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Research Associate will perform a variety of activities related to project management, study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting of results for the PROBIT study and other studies within the Obesity Prevention Program (OPP) at the Department of Population Medicine.  These studies focus on obesity prevention within defined populations.  PROBIT (The Promotion of Breastfeeding Intervention Trial) is a cluster-randomized trial in the Republic of Belarus.  S/he will conduct literature searches, plan analyses, perform statistical programming, and contribute to the writing of reports and manuscripts. S/he will work with investigators in the OPP to provide administrative management and oversight of projects throughout the DPM Project Management Lifecycle.   This includes fiscal management, working with investigators to develop study protocols, training research assistants, preparing reports, communicating with research participants, and problem solving in all aspects of research. The National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ) is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism.  NCCJ promotes understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures through education, advocacy and conflict resolution.  At this time we are seeking a full-time Director of our youth programs.  This individual will be responsible for implementing, growing and overseeing all aspects of NCCJ’s youth leadership programs.  Specifically, the individual will coordinate, develop, deliver, promote and market all of NCCJ’s youth programs throughout the region as well as supervise the youth program specialist.  Strong facilitation, training and development skills, knowledge of social justice education and a strong belief in youth voices and leadership is vital.  The ability to be self-motivated, work independently and be a team player is important. Strong human relations skills, communication, administrative skills and comfort with social media a must. 

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree, experience developing, delivering and educating others in regard to social justice is beneficial as well as management, supervisory and experience working with adolescents.  Ability to work some evenings and weekends is a must.  This is a fully-benefited position.
