Doin' It Well: Approaching Sexual Violence Prevention from a Sex Positive Framework
This webinar will incorporate the positive aspects of sexuality education into a sexual violence prevention framework. If we're working to prevent rape and other forms of sexual violence, we must simultaneously promote healthy sexual interactions. This webinar will address a sex-positive approach to violence prevention, provide a model workshop outline, and explore the challenges of this approach.
Participants will be taught:
- The importance of sex positive approaches to sexual violence education
- How to incorporate a sex positive approach to sexual violence prevention education
- Skills for balancing discussions about healthy sex and unhealthy sexual violence, including how to guide audience members through these discussions
- Information to create a model program outline appropriate to use with their target audience

Babies Cry, Have a Plan
Shaken Baby Prevention
Training for Community Professionals
Shaken Baby Syndrome (SBS) is the combination of injuries to an infant's brain caused by vigorous shaking. This kind of violent shaking most often happens as a result of a caregiver's extreme and overwhelming frustration in response to a baby's incessant crying. The effects of SBS are devastating for victims and their families.
Most importantly, SBS can be prevented.
Children's Trust Fund will offer a series of free, half-day workshops designed for a wide range of community professionals who work with families with infants and young children. These workshops will provide participants with an understanding of SBS including its definition, causes and consequences.
Participants also will learn methods to engage parents and other caregivers in strength-based discussions related to understanding and responding effectively to infant crying and to calming themselves in situations when they may be frustrated or overwhelmed with an infant's crying.
Attendance at this workshop is free! A continental breakfast will be served. All workshops will be held 9 a.m. to noon.
